Bettye Smith, Co-Founder of Pay-e and Chairwoman of the Board
Since 1981, Ms. Smith has been the President and CEO of one of the largest, privately owned payroll and tax service bureaus in the United States: Payroll People Inc. (PPI), and its national tax pay-and-file division: Payroll Tax People (PTP). Together, these businesses serve over 6,000 clients of other payroll processors, software developers, banks and CPAs. Through her leadership within both companies, Ms. Smith has become known across the nation as an expert in industry business planning and development for service bureaus and electronic tax pay and file. Active on a monthly basis with large bulk filers, she meets with the IRS, Social Security and individual state governments to lobby for the payroll industry's best interests and for educational programs. Ms. Smith is a charter member of and an active participant in the National Payroll Reporting Consortium, and is a member of the American Society of Payroll Management.
Prior to founding Payroll People, Inc., Ms. Smith founded and was President of Psychological Associates, Inc., a well-known counseling organization.
Ms. Smith is a graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, and holds a Bachelors of Arts degree.

C. James Smith, Co-Founder of Pay-e and Member of the Board of Directors
Mr. Smith has been an entrepreneur most of his life. During the 1970s, he sold minicomputer hardware and software for Varian Data Machines and Data General, where he was consistently one of the top sales performers. In 1980, he turned his attention to the payroll services industry and co-founded Payroll People, Inc. (PPI) to provide reliable, high-quality payroll services to businesses in the central region of California. Over the next decade, PPI grew to become one of the most successful regional service bureaus in the U.S. Mr. Smith is also a co-founder of The Payroll Tax People, a national processor of payroll tax for all 50 states. In 1999, he co-founded Pay-e and has helped guide the company to success as one of its board members.
Mr. Smith holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors of Arts from California State University, Los Angeles.

John Dodson, Member of the Board of Directors
Mr. Dodson has more than 36 years of experience in the payroll processing and technology market sectors. He is also a highly successful serial entrepreneur. Some of his successful startups include Custom Computer Services, SJV Technology Group, Decade Software and PRIA. Mr. Dodson started his career with IBM as a systems analyst and has experience in management, sales and technical positions.
Mr. Dodson holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Gordon Watson, Member of the Board of Directors
Mr. Watson is a management consultant with more than 44 years of experience in the computer industry: software, hardware and service. His diverse background includes everything from a successful career in direct field sales as a commissioned sales rep to the Vice President of Sales. He spent many years in technical development and technical management as a Director of Engineering for TRW, and Chief Engineer for Varian Data Machines and Computer Automation. He has also held the positions of Division General Manager for Locus Computing and Computer Automation, and President of Troy Check Printing Systems. He has taught technical courses at the University of California, Irvine, and lectured nationally. Mr. Watson has also been a successful consultant for many years as well as managing professional services for three different companies, including Lotus Consulting, a division of IBM.
Mr. Watson holds a BS degree in electrical/computer engineering from UCLA.
